When thinking of this week's podcast discussion on authenticity and human connections, I cannot help but feel a certain awareness to the environments around me. Chicago is full of commuters in the mornings, and each and everyone of us amble on - trying to get to our destinations. As I watch people pass by from outside a coffee shop, I notice how disconnected we all appear to be. There is no eye contact between pedestrians. Everyone seems so focused - so serious - that certainly they're missing all of the uniqueness around them.

If we are all "plugged in", as some like to say, then who are we as a society? And who are we slowly becoming? Will we take moments - no matter how small - to stop and realize how many other humans inhabit this same planet?
